Faculty and Staff Presentations

ASSERT Faculty and staff have given several presentations on computer security issues at conferences and workshops, and are always looking for additional venues at which they can educate users at all level on issues of computer security. Recent Presentations

• Kara Nance gave an invited talk comparing the ABET Certification Process with the current process for certifying NSA/DHS Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education as part of the Creating and Improving on a National Support Structure for Information Assurance Education workshop at the 42nd Hawaii International International Conference on Systems Science (HICSS) in January 2009.

• Dr. Kara Nance presented a paper entitled "Digital Forensics: Defining a Research Agenda" at the 42nd Hawaii International International Conference on Systems Science (HICSS) in January 2009.

• Dr. Alex Seazzu presented a paper entitled "Replicating and Sharing Computer Security Laboratory Environments" (slides) at the 42nd Hawaii International International Conference on Systems Science (HICSS) in January 2009.

• Dr. Kara Nance presented a paper entitled "A Breadth-First Approach to Computer Security" at the 12th Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) in June 2008.

• Dr. M. Strohmaier presented a paper entitled "Phishing: What Teachers Need to Know for the Home and Classroom" at the 2006 SITE Conference in March.

• The Montana State University President’s Office sponsored Dr. K. Nance to present a talk entitled "Basic Computer Security for Higher Education" to administrators, Deans, and Department Heads at Montana State University in December 2005.

• Dr. K. Nance presented a paper entitled "Building a Community of Strong Passwords" at the 17th International Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference in Orlando in March 2006.
